How to let battery live long time??

As this is the first post of the blog, I want to share with you guys a small maintenance tip.

The biggest Question , May be it's the small for some..It's important to every one.
How long should I charge my laptop or mobile battery?
Shall I charge it always as I'm having 24x7 power supply?
Or may be I should charge when ever I feel free?? [Hell]
Or may be some other way..

Okay! Stop being foolish, And let's get smart..!

A friend recently [who is experienced in trouble-shooting and working in dell service center form long time..] said,

The different manufacturers of the batteries will manufacture the battery which can be charged for particular number of 'Cycles'. Weired right?? huh! let's brief it...!!

Let us suppose you've connected your laptop or mobile to external power source one time and switch it off immediately within one minute or so, It will be considered as one 'Cycle'. Doesn't sound crazy?? But this how it works. Now It matters to every one right??

So,now

What to do??

Always, Wait till the battery warns you and asks you to connect the external power source to the device, then connect the charger. As soon as the battery reaches 100% then disconnect the external power source.

Same with the mobiles devices also..! Hope you can understand.

i don't hope this is true because remove ur battery of laptop and check whether u can use ur laptop or not... if u can use that .. it never bothers the battery fully charged .. it uses direct power supply and if the power supply is off then it uses the power from the battery...

so its better to use a laptop on power and not to disconnect it from the power supply..

regardinig cycles if u r on power .. it will not count the cycle as it is not using that.. so better to use the laptop on charged mode...

i am using my laptop for last 11 months.. almost 5 full days a week... in the same way connected to power when possible..

i wonder i get a standby for my laptop(off power) for almost 3hrs 15min.. now,..

some laptops now a days give an option to charge them only upto 80% or 50%.. this is a very good option for those who us eit for a long time continously...

Occasional recalibration of battery (from the BIOS, usually) may help charge the battery to 100%. Do not recalibrate frequently, but do recalibrate if you think your battery is working too weakly than it is expected to. No guaranteed results but no harm either, as long as you don't do it frequently.
